Road Detection for Driving Applications based on Histograms

Abstract

A simple method to detect the boundaries of a road from images is proposed. General considerations for the calculation of a bird's-eye view transformation and the use of histograms are established. A high-level algorithm is developed and implemented at RTL level, which is further synthesized for an FPGA.
