Abstract
In this paper, firstly a method for extraction of complex S-parameters of acoustic devices is shown, based on the analogies that exist between propagation of
electromagnetic and acoustic waves. We then propose the method for extraction of effective material properties of acoustic metamaterials, namely the compressibility and density. Acoustic metamaterial is designed using the Helmholtz resonator. It’s effective material parameters are extracted and the single-negative nature of its stopband is demonstrated.
