Abstract

Power electronics converters (PECs) require a dense data management process to control and monitor its operation in a grid connected system. This complexity jeopardizes the security and integrity of the data communicated between the physical components of the systems and the control unit. In view of this scenario, this paper models the physics and data-oriented cyber-attack profiles for emulating a false data injection model in control structure of a grid connected converter. The development of the physics-based models is realized through the graph theory approach, and the data-oriented models are developed using game-theoretic approach and generative adversarial networks (GANs). The development of these models is based on the attacker capabilities and possible damage that can be caused to the converter operation because of a cyber-attack. Further, these models are implemented with a grid tied converter and their emulation efficacy is compared.
