Abstract

Substituting the carbon atom in the diamond lattice with a nitrogen atom creates a point defect. With a vacancy present at a neigbouring site a nitrogen-vacancy (NV) pair is formed. These are quantum objects that exhibit specific optical properties and have the potential to be used in different applications from micro sensors to quantum computing. We report on the first results of creating NV centeres at the JSI tandetron facility using the new nano beamline.
